HOW-TO:

Mixing:

4 lbs. pour-in-place polyurethane foam is mixed in a 1:1 ratio.
Mix only small amounts at a time (minimum mixture volume of 3 ounces and maximum of ½ gallon amounts of Part A and Part B for total of 1 gallon and wait at least 30 minutes between pours.
Mixing time is approximately 20 -30 seconds.
Working time is one minute.
The 4 lbs. foam will fill about 1/2 cubic foot per quart of mixed liquid at 72F.
If the foam is mixed at a lower temperature, it will be much denser and more foam will be needed to complete the job.
Do not use a wax, paper or wood container or mixing tools because these materials contain moisture which will contaminate the foam!

Clean Up:

The “A” part of the foam cleans up with acetone and the “B” part with water.
Due to the adhesive quality of the foam, keep the mixed product off everything except the job itself.

Tips:

Everything (foam, tools, containers and ambient temperature) must be at 72F before you start using the foam.
If your workspace is colder than 72F, please keep the foam containers off the floor.
Heat closed containers in hot tap water if air temperature is lower than 65F.
Pour foam is very sensitive to humidity.
Humidity causes air bubble which result in a poor quality cured foam.
- Do everything possible to avoid getting moisture into the foam.
- This includes replacing the lids on containers immediately after use as well as not using pour foam on rainy and/or high humidity days.
Shake Part “B” well for 30 seconds before pouring.
Only mix small quantities of Part “A” and Part “B” at one time.
Do not vary the mix ratio with pour foam.
Do not use a drill to mix pour foam as it will result in premature curing and air bubbles.
Heat the cavity the foam is to be poured into, if it is cold to the touch.
Always wear a respirator or self –contained breathing apparatus and gloves when working with pour foam (A paper painter’s mask is not sufficient!)
Do NOT spray! This is NOT a sprayable foam.
Do NOT use with inflatables and/or canvas
Never mix less than 3 ounces of pour foam, as this quantity is difficult to achieve the correct ratio and will not generate enough heat to cure the pour foam properly.

FAQs

Q. Why would I use the 4# rather than the 2# or 8# pour foam kit?

4# pour foam is can be used for flotation, but is also good for jobs that require a little more durability than the 2# can provide.

Q.Is the 4# 1/2 gallon kit the right quantity for my project?

That depends on the project, but AeroMarine also offers 2 gallon and 10 gallon 4# pour foam kits.

Q.What is the largest cavity I could fill with the 4# 1/2 gallon pour foam kit?

A cavity with a volume of 1 cubic foot or a 7 gallon container.
