Black Casting Resin FAQ’s:
How do I use my black casting resin?
AeroMarine’s black casting resin is easy to use, and you can mix-and-pour from the comfort of your own home. First, you’ll need to create a silicone mold for whichever object you want to cast. When your mold is ready, spray in the urethane mold release and let it sit for a few minutes. Mix Part A and Part B of your casting resin. Mix each component at a 1:1 ratio and only mix in a clean, plastic container. Then pour your casting resin into a second container and mix it thoroughly one more time.
Pour your casting resin into your mold and wait for it to harden. Casting resin typically takes between 15 and 30 minutes to cure, but it may take longer depending on how much casting resin you poured. Your casting resin may not cure properly if the room temperature if 50 degrees Fahrenheit or below. Avoid mixing your casting resin on rainy days or in humid environments because moisture may adversely affect the curing process.
Why might I need a black casting resin?
Black casting resin is a great product to use for creating pieces or for adding glossy finishes to the surface of many items. You’re able to pour the liquid casting resin into a variety of different shapes, and the product will become extremely durable when it hardens.
Black, in particular, is terrific because it can easily fit any style of décor or fashion. Use black casting resin to create a beautiful finish on furniture appliques, finials, and decorative items. Part prototypes are also best made in black.
What other colored casting resin does AeroMarine offer?
AeroMarine offers white casting resin in addition to black. We also have casting resin colorant available so you can make casts in white, black, yellow, red, and blue. Adding colorant is easy—just mix it with the Part B component before you add Part A. You can also add white colorant to brighten the color. Keep in mind with a white base you will get more muted colors.
We also have bronze powder available so you can create cold casts. Our bronze powder is made from real bronze so you can create resin casts that are authentically coated by the shiny metal. Bronze powder is easy to apply—just brush the bronze powder into the mold before pouring in the mixed casting resin (2-parts resin and 1-part bronze powder).
