You only need a few basic supplies to cast resin. First and foremost, you’ll need to have the casting resin itself. AeroMarine offers polyurethane casting resin in two colors, white and jet black. All casting resin comes in two containers, Part A and Part B. Part A contains the actual casting resin, while Part B contains the hardener that turns the resin from a liquid into a durable solid. Our casting resin products at AeroMarine come with both Part A and Part B.
If you want your cast to be a different color than white or black, you’ll need AeroMarine colorant. You can add this colorant to your casting resin to make it a variety of colors using the yellow, red, or blue pigments. You may also need mold release. This light spray helps the urethane part release from the mold while extending the life of the silicone.
Mold release is one of the most important casting resin supplies. It’s a thin film that you can spray onto your silicone mold so you can easily remove your urethane parts. When your casting resin hardens, you may find it difficult to remove from the molding. You need to remove your cast with care, or else your custom mold may tear and you won’t be able to use it for future castings.
To apply our mold release product, spray the inside of your mold as evenly as possible. Wait a few minutes for it to dry before pouring in the urethane resin.
