How to make a mold with silicone RTV rubber putty

These photos demonstrate a method of making a quick mold of a shell found on the beach.  This mold cost less than $2 to make and it was completed in about 5 minutes.

The first two photos show measuring and mixing equal amounts of moldmaking rubber.

The third photo shows "smooshing" the silicone onto the original shell. In the fourth photo the mixed casing resin is being poured into the mold.

In the fifth photo the finished casting is being demolded. It is made of AeroMarine Casting Resin, and cost about $.05 on materials. It could also have been made of soap, wax, chocolate, candy, or even a low melt metal.
